Gabriel G Torres

COMMUNITY ARTIST +
INTERDISCIPLINARY DIRECTOR  + WRITER

I am part of an ancestry of farmers, workers, believers and walkers; the journey which brings me, makes me faithful in the possibilities of  a future, for myself and my people.

I am an artist who through poetry, theater, music, dance, performance, and technology, inquires on subjects and topis that have affected me, molded me, taught me. Many times, I do so for the following reasons:

Because there is something within me, I can not heal or digest on my own. Or because I know, humans around me, part of my community, are also in need of healing or digestion.

How myself as an immigrant, a queer person, an addict in recovery, can unpack the constraints of my own labels, then, offer insights into what make us all, a human community: love, faith, pain, journey.

I personally believe  storytelling can't change the world, nonetheless, storytelling can activate world's change.

I am interested in activating storytelling projects that  also think, about how to provide economic acceleration to underserved communities.

Imagine a compelling story serving as a catalyst to  activate economic, physical, emotional, spiritual and/or intellectual growth to a community, through, a garden? a store?  a community center? a workforce development program? a technology?
